What your license covers

One D.C Style license covers one live forum, plus private test copies of that same forum. You can install the add-on on your real forum, on a staging copy where you try updates first, and on your own computer while you develop, all under the same license. A second live forum needs a second license.

Your live forum

Each license belongs to one live forum. You tell us which one on the license's Domain tab in My Licenses. Enter just the domain, such as forum.example.com, with no path. The license then covers that domain and all its subdomains, so www. or a mobile subdomain needs nothing extra.

Test copies are included

Trying an update on a copy first is good practice, and your license allows it. A test copy is a private copy of the same forum, used for testing or development, not open to your members or the public. There are three ways it can run:

• On a subdomain of your forum, such as test.example.com. Already covered, nothing to set.
• On your own computer, at localhost or an address ending in .test, .local or .localhost. Always covered.
• On a different domain. Add it as the license's Staging domain on the Domain tab. You can set one staging domain, and change it once every 30 days.

Note: A test copy is for testing. If a second, public community runs on a copy, it's a second forum and needs its own license.

Moving to a new domain or forum

Changing your forum's address, or replacing it with a new one? Change the domain on the license's Domain tab. You can move a license once every 30 days, and the license stops covering the old domain when you do. If you need to move again sooner, open a ticket with your order number and the old and new addresses. Moving your whole forum? Moving your forum to a new server or domain covers the rest.

What a license doesn't allow

You can't pass a license to someone else, resell it or share the add-on's files. Removing the add-on's attribution isn't allowed either. The full terms are in the license agreement.

Free add-ons

Free add-ons also cover one XenForo installation each, and their updates are free for good. You don't need an account to download them. Some free add-ons carry their own open-source terms, which the product page shows.
