How updates and renewals work
You pay once and keep the add-on. Updates are included for a set period, and renewing for more is optional and never automatic.

A D.C Style premium add-on is a one-time purchase: you pay once and keep using it for as long as you like. The price also includes a period of updates, shown on the product page. When that period ends, the add-on keeps working. Renewing to get newer versions is optional, and we never charge you automatically.
How long updates last
Each product page states the update period under its price, for example "12 months of updates". Most premium add-ons include 12 months. A few smaller ones, such as Advanced Tag View and Profile Post Share, include 6 months. Your license page in My Licenses shows the exact date your period ends.
During the period you can download every new version as soon as it's released, including new features, fixes and support for new XenForo versions.
What happens when the period ends
- The add-on keeps working. Nothing is switched off on your forum.
- Your downloads stay. Every version released before the end date stays downloadable from your license, as often as you need.
- Newer versions need a renewal. On the license's Downloads tab, releases from after the end date show as needing renewal.
So you can wait. If a later release fixes something you need, or adds support for a XenForo version you're moving to, renew then.
Renewing
- Open the license in My Licenses.
- Click Renew, shown once the period has ended, or Renew early, shown when the end date is close. The renewal goes into your cart.
- Check out as usual. Paying with PayPal or crypto.
A renewal adds another update period of the same length. If you renew before the current one ends, the new period starts when the old one would have ended, so you don't lose any time by renewing early. Renewing early sometimes comes with a discount; the license page shows it when it applies. The renewal price is listed on each product page.
Note: Renewals are never automatic. You'll only ever pay when you click Renew yourself. If you bought an automatic subscription in the past, you can still see it under your account's subscriptions.
Free add-ons
Free add-ons get free updates for good. There's nothing to renew. Download new versions from the product page whenever they come out. Download your add-ons and older versions.
Do I need to update?
Not always, but it's worth reading each release's notes. Updates can include security and compatibility fixes, and new XenForo versions sometimes need a newer build of an add-on.
