Before you start
- Needs XenForo 2.2 or later.
- Have your email provider's mail server and account details ready.
- Current version is 1.0.0.
Install the add-on
- Use Add-ons → Install/upgrade from archive with the supplied archive.
- Manual install: upload the archive's upload contents into the XenForo root, then install DC/SmartMailRouter from the Add-ons page.
Grant access and open the add-on
- Grant Manage Smart Mail Router to administrators who will configure providers and manage mail.
- Open Setup → Smart mail router.
- Routing starts disabled.
Step 1: Choose an email provider
- In Guided setup, select an existing provider, import your forum's password-based SMTP configuration, or add a new one.
- For a new connection, enter the server and account details from your provider.
- Verified STARTTLS on port 587 or implicit TLS on port 465 are the standard choices. Custom ports and encryption remain available.
- Set limits below your provider's allowance if other applications share the account.
Step 2: Check the connection
- Send a test email to an address you control.
- A successful test confirms SMTP acceptance and makes the provider available.
- Select Use this provider if it is still disabled.
- Tests use quota. Setup never sends them automatically.
Step 3: Choose your routes
- Select a default provider and optional backups.
- Optionally pick a separate provider and backups for notifications and digests.
- Explicitly select an existing default or bulk rule when reusing one.
Step 4: Review and enable routing
- Review provider order and existing rules, then enable routing.
