Open the add-on options
Go to Options → Profile Post Share in the AdminCP. This is where you control the main settings for the add-on.
Choose which user groups can share
Permissions are set for each user group. This lets you decide exactly who can share profile posts and who cannot.
For example, you might allow registered members to share profile posts, but restrict guests or other groups. You set the permission for each group separately.
In the AdminCP, open the user group permissions page. Select a group, then find the Profile Post Share permission. Set it to allow sharing for groups that should share, and disallow it for groups that should not.
A group with permission denied will not see the share option. A group with permission allowed will see and use the share option.
Show the share count
You can show the total number of times a profile post has been shared. When you enable this option, members can see how widely a post was shared.
This information appears on the profile post itself. It updates each time someone shares the post.
Send alerts to the original poster
You can enable alerts sent to the original post's user when their profile post is shared. This lets members know when their content is shared by others.
The alert appears in the original poster's alerts list, just like other XenForo alerts.
Check that it works
After you change the settings, test with two accounts:
- Log in with an account in an allowed group. The share option should appear and work.
- Log in with an account in a restricted group. The share option should not appear.
- Share a profile post and check that the share count goes up.
- Check that the original poster receives an alert if alerts are enabled.
Adjust the settings if anything doesn't match your expectations.
